Former NBA Star to host Family Fun Day at SCC

Wednesday, August 4th, 2021

Columbus County legend and former NBA star, Chris Wilcox, is hosting a community-wide Family Fun Day in partnership with Southeastern Community College on Saturday, August 14 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. The event will take place on the college campus.

Family Fun Day will have food, games, and fun. Wilcox and his team will be distributing 500 backpacks to K-12 students heading back to school and providing other community resources.

The college will be open and ready to assist with enrolling students in Fall classes. Classes start at SCC on August 16 so this is a great opportunity to register before the semester begins. College advisors can help students enroll, discover ways to pay for college, complete the Financial Aid application (FAFSA), explore career resources, and more.

Mt Calvary Center for Leadership Development will be on-site providing free COVID-19 vaccines to individuals ready to get their vaccinations.

Dr. Chris English, SCC President said, “We are so excited to welcome Wilcox back to his home county. It’s evident that he is eager to give back to his community by providing resources to support our youth and families as we continue to battle through the global pandemic. I hope everyone has a chance to enjoy this event on August 14.”

For questions, please contact Southeastern Community College at (910) 788-6358.
