Internships Lead to Rewarding Experiences

Monday, March 20th, 2023

At Southeastern Community College, students have a variety of opportunities for gaining valuable work experience while pursuing their education. Work-based learning programs are building an educated workforce in Columbus County, and surrounding areas.

Internships are made possible by the powerful partnerships we have across Columbus County.

“The real world is different than the classroom, the students are well mannered, polite and eager to learn,” said EW Greene, Owner of EW Greene & Son Heating AC and Electrical. “The program is fantastic and gives students the opportunity to learn and understand the reality of the trade.”

During the work experience and at its completion, students are evaluated on skills such as communication, interpersonal skills, teamwork, problem-solving, and more.

Internships are a meaningful way for students to explore career choices and become better prepared for the job market after graduation.

Students and employers who are interested in the internship program can reach out to Denise Young, Apprenticeship Coordinator, at denise.young@sccnc.edu.
