SCC holding Public Forums to Assist Presidential Search

Friday, February 21st, 2020

Southeastern Community College will hold two public forums on March 5, 2020 as part of its presidential search process. The sessions are open to the public and will be held at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. in the SCC Auditorium.

Input from the sessions will assist the Presidential Search Committee and contracted search firm Association of Community Colleges Trustees (ACCT) in developing a presidential profile. Each session will include a wide-ranging discussion about the qualities, characteristics, and qualifications SCC is seeking in its next president, and opportunities and challenges facing the college in the years to comeAdditionally, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions about the presidential search process.

Faculty, staff, students and members of the community are encouraged to attend and participate.

In addition to the public forums, a short electronic survey has been developed to solicit feedback. Anonymous responses to the survey will also be used to inform the development of the draft Presidential Profile. Feedback to the survey must be submitted by 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.

The Presidential Search Committee will review the confidential applications, interview semifinalist candidates and identify the final candidates to forward to the Board of Trustees for further consideration.

The Board of Trustees will interview the final candidates and select from among them. Each of the finalists will participate in open forums at SCC, in which the campus and local community will be invited to attend and participate.

Board Chair Henry Edmund says, “The appointment of SCC’s next President will shape the College’s future for years to come, and the Board is fully committed to conducting an equitable, inclusive and transparent national search”.
