SCC will host Drive-Through Commencement

Friday, July 17th, 2020

SCC will host a modified graduation ceremony for graduates on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 9 a.m. To keep our graduates and their families safe and to comply with NC guidelines the College will host a “drive-through” graduation ceremony.

“As COVID-19 continues to disrupt our lives and our traditional celebrations, one celebration that it has significantly disrupted is our graduation ceremony. In March we were hopeful that conditions would return to normal by the end of the summer,” said Sylvia Cox, Vice President of Student Services. “Unfortunately, this hope has turned out to not be true, and the future is still uncertain.”

The ceremony will give graduates the opportunity to cross the stage to receive their credentials and their guests can watch from their vehicles. Further details about the ceremony can be found on the College graduation page.

“This ceremony will also give us an opportunity to celebrate our 2019-2020 graduates before life takes us all in different directions if it has not already,” said Cox.

Graduates MUST RSVP by Monday, July 27, 2020.
