Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the oldest, international honor society for two-year college students and has over 1,300 chapters in all 50 states and 9 sovereign countries.
The SCC Chapter of PTK was chartered in 1966 and is the second oldest chapter in the Carolinas region and has inducted over 3,000 SCC students into the organization. The chapter has had only 2 lead advisors during its 50 year tenure at SCC! PTK is part of the national organization. PTK members promote the Four Hallmarks of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Fellowship.
PTK members are eligible for membership if they have completed 12 semester hours at SCC and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Students who elect to join are inducted in a PTK induction ceremony annually. Members participate in campus activities such as Club Days, Welcome Week Activities, and High School Senior Days. Members have served as tutors for the Columbus County Literacy Council.
