SkillsUSA

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. Currently, there are more than 18,000 sections in 52 states and territorial associations. SkillsUSA has served more than 12.2 million members since it was founded in 1965. SkillsUSA offers opportunities for students to compete in local, regional, state and national levels to demonstrate their skills but also earn scholarships monies. The SCC Chapter of SkillsUSA was founded in 2015 for students enrolled in technical and vocational programs. The chapter received the Largest Post-Secondary Membership Award at the 51st Annual SkillsUSA North Carolina Leadership & Skills Conference held in April 2016. At this same conference, members competed in events such as Fantasy Hair and Makeup (Cosmetology); Information Technology and Internetworking (Computer Information Technology); Job Skills Demonstration and Television Production (Broadcasting and Production Technology); Welding and Opening and Closing Ceremonies. SCC students received multiple awards at the event.
